What is the Janka Hardness Test

The Janka Hardness Test is used to measure a wood's ability to withstand denting and wear. The test measures the force used to push a small steel ball into wood to half of the ball's diameter. The result (measured in pounds-force) is used to determine the hardness of a wood species and determine its expected durability as a floor.
